Tragedy Over Washington DC: No Survivors in Mid-Air Collision

Washington D.C., USA: In a somber moment, President Donald Trump confirmed that there were no survivors following a tragic mid-air collision between a military helicopter and a passenger plane over the Potomac River near Washington D.C. on Wednesday. During Thursday's White House briefing, Trump began by leading the nation in a moment of silence to honor the victims and their families.

“The work has now shifted to a recovery mission,” said Trump, describing the crash as an “hour of anguish” for the nation. He assured the victims' families that his administration would leave no stone unturned in uncovering the cause of the disaster.

American Eagle Flight No. 5342, which departed from Wichita, Kansas, was carrying 60 passengers and four crew members when it collided with an Army Black Hawk helicopter transporting three soldiers. The crash occurred near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

In his address, Trump pledged to investigate the incident swiftly, stating that safety would remain his top priority. He also announced the appointment of Christopher Rocheleau as the acting commissioner of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Newly sworn-in Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy emphasized the need for a “whole of government response” and promised that the investigation would be expedited, unlike past incidents that took years to resolve.
