Trump Denies Ceasefire Role in Israel-Iran Conflict, Says He's Working on ‘Much Bigger’ Agenda

Washington D.C., June 18, 2025 : United States President Donald Trump on Tuesday firmly denied reports that he is working on a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran, asserting instead that his current mission involves something “much bigger” than merely brokering peace between the two nations engaged in escalating hostilities.
The statement came shortly after Trump abruptly cut short his participation at the G7 Summit in Canada. While speculation swirled that his early departure was linked to diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalating the Israel–Iran conflict, Trump clarified his position in a series of strongly worded posts on his social media platform, Truth Social.
Taking aim at French President Emmanuel Macron, Trump wrote, “Publicity seeking President Emmanuel Macron, of France, mistakenly said that I left the G7 Summit, in Canada, to go back to D.C. to work on a ‘cease fire’ between Israel and Iran. Wrong! He has no idea why I am now on my way to Washington, but it certainly has nothing to do with a Cease Fire. Much bigger than that. Whether purposely or not, Emmanuel always gets it wrong. Stay Tuned!”
The post appeared to dismiss widespread reports linking Trump’s early exit from the G7 to the Middle East crisis.
Earlier, Trump had shocked observers by urging civilians to "immediately evacuate Tehran", signaling growing American concern over the intensifying conflict. The remarks came amid a dramatic weekend of hostilities, including Israeli airstrikes on Tehran and Iranian missile attacks targeting multiple Israeli cities, such as Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and Haifa.
Though the United States has not formally joined the Israeli military operation, Trump has remained vocal about his stance on Iran’s nuclear program. “Iran should have signed the 'deal' I told them to sign. What a shame, and waste of human life. Simply stated, IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. I said it over and over again!” he wrote.
The ongoing conflict has cast a long shadow over the G7 meeting, where global leaders were expected to focus on climate, trade, and technological cooperation. Instead, geopolitical tensions dominated discussions, particularly the rapid escalation of violence in the Middle East.
Before leaving the summit, Trump told reporters, “I have to be back early for obvious reasons,” but did not elaborate at the time.
The Israel-Iran conflict, which erupted on Friday, has drawn international concern. Observers fear further escalation could destabilize the broader region and threaten global oil markets. Though Washington has so far refrained from joining military operations, it remains unclear what Trump’s “much bigger” agenda involves.
Diplomatic analysts speculate it may relate to broader security, nuclear non-proliferation, or a potential geopolitical realignment involving regional powers.
For now, the world watches closely as tensions in West Asia continue to spiral—and as President Trump promises more announcements to come.
