Ticket Inspector Assaulted During Ticket Check on Mumbai's Churchgate-Virar AC Local Train

Mumbai, : A shocking incident of assault during a ticket inspection on the Churchgate-Virar fast air-conditioned (AC) local train has caused a stir. The incident involved Chief Ticket Inspector Jasbir Singh, who was checking tickets when he discovered that three passengers were traveling in the AC local without a first-class ticket. When he asked the passengers to pay the penalty as per railway rules, an argument ensued with one of the passengers, Aniket Bhosale.

The argument quickly escalated into a physical altercation, during which Jasbir Singh sustained minor injuries. Video footage of the incident revealed that the passengers tore Singh's shirt and assaulted him. Additionally, ₹1,500 collected from other passengers went missing during the commotion.

The incident came to light after a fellow passenger recorded the altercation on video, which led to immediate attention. Railway Protection Force (RPF) officers later arrived at the scene and escorted Bhosale off the train at Nalasopara station. During the subsequent investigation, the accused admitted their mistake and reimbursed Singh for the missing amount.

In a display of magnanimity, Jasbir Singh chose not to press charges against the accused, instead giving them a stern warning before letting them go. This incident raises serious concerns about passenger behavior and the importance of public discipline. It serves as a reminder that passengers should exercise patience and adhere to rules during ticket inspections to ensure a smooth process.
