Tragedy in Ghatkopar Garden: One Dead, Another Injured as Banyan Tree Branch Falls

Ghatkopar, Mumbai: In a tragic incident, a 60-year-old woman lost her life, and another was injured after a banyan tree branch fell on them during their evening walk in a privately-managed garden at Ghatkopar's Garodia Nagar, 90 Feet Road. The mishap occurred on Thursday evening, claiming the life of Minakshi, 60, and injuring Vandana Shah, 56.

Both women were rushed to the civic-run Rajawadi Hospital, where Minakshi was declared dead. Vandana Shah is currently undergoing treatment. A civic official noted that the garden is managed by a local residential association and revealed that the BMC's N Ward office had issued a notice in April to trim the tree, which was deemed healthy at the time.
