Tragedy Strikes in Nagpada: Nine-Year-Old Girl Killed as Concrete Water Tank Collapses

Nagpada, Mumbai: A tragic accident occurred in Nagpada, Mumbai, when a concrete water tank collapsed, resulting in the death of a nine-year-old girl on Wednesday afternoon. The victim, identified as Afrin Shah, was crushed by the collapsed tank around 12:30 pm.

The temporary water tank, constructed by the Aashray Yojana Cell for the BMC’s solid waste management staff quarters, overflowed in the morning. Hours later, the mounting pressure caused the tank to burst.

Afrin was rushed to Nair Hospital but was declared dead on arrival. Three others sustained injuries in the incident. Nine-year-old Miraj Khatun, along with Gulam Rasul, 32, and Najranabibi, are being treated at Fauziya Hospital. Thankfully, their conditions are stable.

The Mumbai Police have filed an accidental death report (ADR), and investigations are ongoing.
