Trio Arrested in Brutal Robbery Attack on Elderly Sisters in Andheri West

Andheri West, Mumbai: In a shocking robbery attempt, three men were arrested for attacking two elderly women with an iron pestle in Mumbai’s Andheri West. The accused — Ajit Mukhiya, Saroj Mukhiya, and Vishnu Mukhiya, all in their 20s and hailing from Darbhanga, Bihar — were apprehended at the Hyderabad railway station on January 10 after an intense police manhunt.
The horrifying incident occurred on January 7, when Ajit, temporarily hired as help, attacked Shobha Rekhari (74) and her sister-in-law Bina Bhatt (67) at their home in the Gypsy Rose building, Shastri Nagar. The two women were viciously struck on the head as the suspects tried to steal cash and valuables.
Saroj Mukhiya, who is believed to have masterminded the robbery, was identified as the prime accused. The three were tracked down using CCTV footage and tech data, which led police teams to Hyderabad. The trio is facing charges of assault and robbery, while the investigation is still ongoing.
The victims are receiving treatment at Kokilaben Hospital, and the accused will remain in police custody until January 15.
