US Vice President JD Vance Begins First Official Visit to India, Meets PM Modi Today

New Delhi, April 21: United States Vice President JD Vance arrived in New Delhi on Monday morning for a four-day official visit to India, accompanied by his wife and children. This marks his first visit to the country as Vice President. Upon arrival at Palam Airport, he was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour.

Vice President Vance’s visit, scheduled from April 21 to 24, aims to deepen the strategic partnership between India and the United States. Key areas of focus during his trip include economic cooperation, trade enhancement, and defence collaboration.

The Vice President began his day with a visit to the iconic Akshardham Temple in Delhi. Later in the evening, he is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the official residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg at 6:30 pm. The meeting is expected to pave the way for renewed momentum in bilateral relations between the two democracies.

Following his engagements in the capital, Vance and his family will travel to Jaipur on Tuesday and then to Agra on April 23. Agra's Taj Mahal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is being specially prepared to receive the dignitary. The monument, which has hosted many global leaders in the past, will welcome the Vance family as they admire its architectural splendor.

Meanwhile, excitement brews in Vadluru, a small village in the West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, which is the ancestral home of Usha Vance, the Vice President’s wife.

The US Vice President’s visit will conclude early on April 24 with his departure from India at 6:40 am. According to Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, the visit is pivotal in further cementing the India-US relationship, with comprehensive discussions set to take place on all significant matters.
