Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation Receives Only Six Valid Applications for Residence Certificates

Vasai-Virar : The Vasai-Virar City Municipal Corporation (VVCMC) has reported a concerningly low number of applications for the "proof of residence" certificate for residents of 41 illegal buildings in the region. The corporation has only received six valid applications so far, despite urging residents to submit their paperwork.
The certificate, certified by the VVCMC, is crucial for residents of these illegal buildings as it serves as official proof that they have purchased flats in these structures. This certificate is seen as essential for securing legal recognition and benefits for the residents.
"We have received only six valid applications, and the certificates can be issued," said Dipak Sawant, Deputy Municipal Commissioner of VVCMC, who also leads the Controller, Unauthorized Construction (CUC) department. Sawant confirmed that many applications have been submitted with missing or incomplete documents, further delaying the process.
The VVCMC has urged all residents of the 41 illegal buildings to expedite the submission of their applications and required documents. The corporation stressed the importance of complying with the procedure to ensure that the certificates are issued without further delay.
The low number of valid applications raises concerns about the preparedness of residents in obtaining the necessary documentation and highlights the ongoing issue of unauthorized construction in the area. The VVCMC is expected to continue monitoring the situation and assisting residents in completing their applications to streamline the certification process.
As the deadline approaches, residents are advised to act promptly to avoid any potential delays in receiving their much-needed proof of residence certificates.
