Virat Kohli Laughs Hilariously While Watching His 14-Year-Old Interview About Chris Gayle

Bengaluru, April 10:Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star Virat Kohli had fans and viewers in splits during a recent appearance on the show ‘18 Calling 18’ on JioCinema. The light-hearted moment came when host Jatin Sapru presented Kohli with a throwback clip from the 2011 IPL season, showing the then 22-year-old cricketer giving a post-match interview after winning his first-ever Player of the Match award in the league.

In the video, Kohli discussed RCB’s successful chase of 162 runs against Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), and mentioned his strategy during the game.

“To be honest, I did not plan to bat like that. But when I started to hit the ball well, I took charge from Chris (Gayle). That was the plan in the middle so that he could play himself in, and I could go for my shots because I was hitting it well,” a young Kohli had said.

Watching the clip 14 years later, the current-day Kohli couldn’t contain his laughter. Amused and slightly embarrassed, he exclaimed, “Chris could play himself in? Waah! Ghalat fehmi dekh lo!” He added with a grin, “You guys brought it here from somewhere… I don't even know what I said.”

Despite the self-deprecating humour, Kohli remains a dominant force in the ongoing IPL 2025 season. At 36 years of age, he has amassed 164 runs in four innings, including two half-centuries, with a strike rate of 143.86. His form, energy, and commitment continue to be crucial for RCB’s campaign this season.

The moment offered fans a refreshing glimpse into Kohli’s evolving personality—one that balances fierce competitiveness on the field with humility and humour off it.
