IPL 2025, Match 34: Punjab Kings Outclass RCB at Chinnaswamy, Seal 5-Wicket Win

Bengaluru : Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s struggles at home continued as they succumbed to their third straight loss at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, going down to Punjab Kings by five wickets in Match 34 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Despite a valiant 50-run knock by Tim David and a spirited bowling effort from Josh Hazlewood, RCB failed to defend a modest total, further denting their campaign.

Put in to bat first, RCB’s batting unit faltered early, managing just 95 for 9 in their allotted 14 overs in a rain-curtailed contest. Captain Rajat Patidar contributed 23 off 18 balls, but it was Tim David who stood tall amid the collapse, smashing a brilliant 50 off 26 deliveries, laced with five boundaries and three sixes.

However, Punjab Kings’ bowlers maintained a tight grip throughout, with Marco Jansen leading the charge. Jansen returned with figures of 2 for 10 in his three overs, using his height and variations effectively to dismantle the RCB top order and halt any momentum.

Chasing a target of 96, Punjab Kings began steadily. Priyansh Arya scored 16 off 11 balls, while Josh Inglis added 14 off 17. RCB pacer Josh Hazlewood briefly reignited hope with a double-wicket over, dismissing Inglis and Shreyas Iyer, ending with excellent figures of 3 for 13 from three overs.

However, Punjab's middle order showed composure. Marcus Stoinis and Nehal Wadhera guided their team to victory with 11 balls to spare, ensuring the visitors crossed the line comfortably despite losing five wickets.

With this win, Punjab Kings have strengthened their position in the points table, while RCB are left to reflect on a string of underwhelming performances at their home ground.
