4 Dead, Several Feared Trapped After Building Collapses in Delhi’s Mustafabad

New Delhi, April 19: In a tragic incident that struck in the early hours of Saturday, a four-storey residential building collapsed in the Mustafabad area of northeast Delhi, leading to the death of at least four individuals. The incident, which occurred around 2:39 AM, has left several others feared trapped beneath the debris.
According to the Delhi Police, 14 people have been pulled out from the rubble so far. Unfortunately, four of them succumbed to their injuries while the others are undergoing treatment. Emergency services rushed to the spot soon after the collapse was reported.
Dramatic CCTV footage from the vicinity captured the exact moment the structure crumbled, showing the building suddenly giving way and plunging into dust and debris. The visuals, now circulating on social media, underscore the scale of the disaster.
Teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), along with Delhi Fire Services, local police, and civic authorities, are spearheading the ongoing rescue efforts. Sniffer dogs, life-detection equipment, and heavy machinery are being used to expedite the search for any remaining victims.
Speaking on the condition, a senior official said, “Our primary focus is to rescue any individuals who may still be trapped. We are investigating the cause of the collapse, and appropriate action will be taken.”
Residents and eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos and panic, as cries for help emerged from the ruins in the dark. Many locals have been assisting emergency responders in clearing debris and providing first aid.
The cause of the collapse is yet to be officially determined, though early speculation points toward structural weaknesses. Authorities have promised a thorough investigation and accountability for any negligence.
This is a developing story. More updates are expected as the rescue operation continues.
