46-Year-Old Woman Dies in House Slab Collapse in Malad’s Ram Nagar; Husband and Son Injured

Mumbai: A tragic incident unfolded in Malad West on Wednesday when a 46-year-old woman, Pooja Mandalkar, lost her life after a portion of her house slab collapsed in Sonabai Chawl, Ram Nagar. Her husband, Prashant Mandalkar, and their son sustained minor injuries and are undergoing treatment at a private hospital.

The mishap occurred around 11 am in a ground-plus-one-storey structure that had been standing for over two decades. Civic officials suspect the iron beams had deteriorated over time, leading to the collapse. "When part of the house began crumbling, Pooja went to check on the balcony, which caused the entire structure to give way," an official stated.

While Pooja was declared dead on arrival at the hospital, her husband and son are recovering. Civic authorities are investigating the incident to determine the cause and assess structural risks in the vicinity.
