Bengal Business Summit: State receives investment proposals worth one lakh crore on the first day

Kolkata, 06 February : On the first day of the Bengal Global Business Summit 2025, investment proposals worth approximately one lakh crore rupees have been received. This claim was made in a statement from the state government late on Wednesday night. Prior to this, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced the start of coal mining at the Deucha-Pachami coal block in Birbhum district. Mamata Banerjee said that Deucha Pachami, one of the largest coal blocks in the world, has reserves of 1240 million tons of coal and 2600 million tons of basalt.

The Trinamool Congress hailed the occasion as historic, writing on social media, "Coal mining at Deucha Pachami in Birbhum will mark the beginning of a new era of development, opportunity, and self-reliance. The process of land acquisition and compensation for local people has been completed. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee made this announcement at the BGBS platform."

At the conclusion of the summit's inaugural session, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee stated that Bengal's economic progress has been remarkable. The state's tax revenue has increased by 4.73 times, capital expenditure has risen by 13.85 times, investment in the social sector has grown by 13.38 times, and agriculture and related sectors have seen a 10.17-fold increase. This growth reflects inclusive and sustainable development.
