Bengaluru Woman’s Gruesome Murder: Prime Suspect Found Dead in Odisha

In a shocking turn of events, the prime suspect in the brutal murder of a 29-year-old woman from Bengaluru was found dead near his hometown in Bhadrak, Odisha. The suspect, Mukti Ranjan Pratap Roy, was on the run after allegedly killing and dismembering the woman at her residence in Vyalikaval, Bengaluru. The gruesome discovery of the body, stuffed in a fridge, has left the city reeling in horror.

Roy, who had been evading capture, was located in Odisha, where he reportedly took his own life on September 25, 2024, before the police could apprehend him. According to the Bhadrak police, Roy's body was found in a graveyard 1.5 km from his village in Bhuinpur. His identity was confirmed through his motorbike registration and personal belongings.

The Bengaluru police, who had been actively pursuing Roy, dispatched a team to Odisha earlier this week after tracking his movements. Though they had narrowed down his location to Bhadrak and Balasore, Roy’s death by suicide occurred just before they could arrest him.

The crime came to light after the woman’s mutilated body was found on the first floor of her three-storey home in Bengaluru. Authorities had initially questioned three male friends of the victim, but their focus soon shifted to Roy, who had been missing since the day of the murder. His brother, who was located by the police in Hebbugodi, revealed that Roy had confessed to the murder before fleeing Bengaluru.

Police investigations suggest that jealousy fueled the crime. Roy, who had been in a turbulent relationship with the victim, reportedly grew resentful when he learned of her other male friends. Unable to cope with her indifference, he committed the horrific act that has sent shockwaves across the city.

As the investigation continues, the tragic case has drawn attention to the devastating consequences of unchecked anger and jealousy, leaving both the victim's family and the public seeking justice amidst the aftermath of the crime.
