BJP Strengthens Position in J&K as Former Minister Zulfikar Choudhary Joins Party

Jammu, Ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) received a significant boost as former Minister and senior Apni Party leader Zulfikar Choudhary, along with hundreds of his supporters, joined the party. The joining ceremony took place at the BJP Headquarters in Trikuta Nagar, where Choudhary expressed his commitment to peace and development in the region.
Union Minister and J&K Assembly election in-charge G. Kishan Reddy, along with Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, BJP National General Secretary and Prabhari for J&K and Ladakh Tarun Chugh, and J&K BJP President Ravinder Raina, welcomed Choudhary into the party. They emphasized that his entry would strengthen the party’s grassroots presence in Jammu and Kashmir.
G. Kishan Reddy, while welcoming the veteran leader from the twin districts of Poonch and Rajouri, highlighted the Modi Government’s efforts to grant rights to the ST community, including the first-ever political reservation for the Gujjar and Bakerwal communities following the revocation of Article 370. He noted that the region has seen a record influx of two crore tourists, marking a shift from terrorism to peace and development under Modi’s leadership.
Tarun Chugh criticized the Abdullah, Mufti, and Nehru-Gandhi families for neglecting the Gujjar-Bakerwal community for 70 years, citing the ban on inter-district recruitment as one of the injustices. He praised PM Modi for addressing the community’s long-standing issues.
Dr. Jitendra Singh described Choudhary Zulfikar as a carrier of a political legacy that would benefit both the area and the BJP. He emphasized the Modi Government’s role in strengthening grassroots democracy and advancing development in Jammu and Kashmir.
Ravinder Raina also praised Choudhary’s public-centric approach and his contributions to development projects as a former Minister. Choudhary expressed his satisfaction in joining the BJP, admiring Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts to bring peace and development to the region. He pledged to steer the region towards progress, distancing himself from the emotive politics often associated with leaders from the Valley.
The event was also attended by J&K BJP General Secretary Vibodh Gupta, former Minister Abdul Ghani Kohli, former MP Talib Hussain Choudhary, DDC Iqbal Malik, District President Dinesh Sharma, and ST Morcha President Roshan Choudhary.
