BMC Budget 2025: Major Announcements for Education, Infrastructure & Public Welfare

Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced its Budget Estimates for 2025-26, with a total outlay of ₹74,427.41 crore, prioritizing education, infrastructure, and public welfare.
Key Highlights:
Education & Student Welfare:

₹3,955.64 crore allocated to education, an increase of ₹630 crore from the previous year.

Mission SAMPURN to improve school infrastructure, admissions, and student development.

Purak Poshan Aahar scheme to provide supplementary nutrition alongside mid-day meals.

Science Parks to be set up in two BMC schools.

English Language Labs and Cyber Literacy Projects for better learning and online safety.
Infrastructure & Urban Development:

Mumbai Sewage Disposal Project (MSDP): ₹5,545 crore allocated for 7 new STPs, operational by 2026-28.

Mumbai Coastal Road (Phase 2): ₹4,000 crore for connectivity between Versova and Dahisar.

Road Concretisation: ₹3,111 crore to complete 75% of the project next year.

Goregaon-Mulund Link Road (GMLR): ₹1,958 crore for the 12 km link road, reducing travel time significantly.
