Body of escaped prisoner found in Assam

Assam : The dead body of one of the five undertrial prisoners who escaped by crossing the wall of Morigaon District Jail was found in Sondoba Beel (lake) in Denaguri of Laharighat on Monday. The search is on for the other four who escaped. The prisoners who escaped from Morigaon Jail in the early hours of Thursday included Saifuddin, Ziyarul Islam, Noor Islam, Mafidul, Abdul Rashid. After the incident, the police team started an intensive raid operation to catch the prisoners who escaped. Meanwhile, the body of absconding prisoner Abdul Rashid was found today in Esondoba Beel in Devaguri of Laharighat police station area. Police had received information about Abdul Rashid among the five prisoners who escaped from Morigaon District Jail. Police sources have said that Rashid had spent the night on a boat in the waters of Sondoba Beel two days ago. Based on the above information, Morigaon District Superintendent of Police Hemant Kumar Das raided last night to catch Rashid. After this, his body was recovered. The local magistrate inspected the spot before sending the body of the recovered prisoner for post-mortem. Assistant Commissioner of Lahorighat Samjila Pramod Sharma said that Rashid was found trapped in a net around his neck and there are injury marks on his leg. According to the Morigaon Superintendent of Police, Abdul Rashid may have drowned in the water, due to which he died. Morigaon police is continuing its operation against the other four absconding prisoners. Morigaon District Commissioner Debashish Sharma said that the absconding Rashid's leg was broken while he jumping from the high wall of the jail. Abdul Rashid was hiding in the water with a small stick in the middle of the bill. He may have drowned due to hiding in the water for a long time due to being surrounded by the police, due to which he died
