Bomb Threat at Mumbai Airport: 35-Year-Old Man Arrested

Mumbai, May 27 : A major security scare gripped Mumbai on Monday morning after a bomb threat targeting the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport was received by the city police. The call, made around 9:00 AM to the Mumbai Police control room, claimed that explosives had been planted at the airport and that it would be "blown up by 2 PM."

Swift action by the MIDC Police led to the arrest of the accused, identified as 35-year-old Manjeet Kumar Gautam. Originally from Uttar Pradesh, Gautam currently resides in the Sakinaka area of Mumbai.

The police immediately launched a full-scale emergency response. Bomb detection and disposal squads, along with other security agencies, were deployed at the airport. The threat forced security officials to heighten surveillance and conduct extensive checks across the premises.

According to police sources, Gautam called the control room and stated, “I will blow up the Mumbai airport by 2 PM today,” prompting an urgent tracing operation. He was tracked down and taken into custody within hours.

Authorities are currently interrogating Gautam to determine the motive behind the hoax. Preliminary investigations indicate that he acted alone and did not possess any explosives.

The airport continued operations amid tightened security, with officials confirming that no suspicious items were found during searches.

Further legal action is underway, and the police are expected to press charges for making a false threat and disrupting public order.
