Bomb Threats Continue to Disrupt Delhi Schools: Safety Concerns Grow

Dwarka, Delhi: A wave of bomb threats has disrupted schools in Delhi, with the latest incident occurring at a private school in Dwarka on December 20. The school received an email threatening a bomb attack, prompting an immediate shift to online classes for safety. This marks the sixth bomb threat in the capital in just 11 days, following a series of similar incidents that have rattled school authorities and parents.

In recent weeks, Delhi has witnessed an increasing number of such threats targeting schools. On December 17, several schools faced similar emails, while on December 16, 20 institutions, including the renowned DPS RK Puram, were threatened. On December 14, the emails referenced “bomb vests,” and on December 13, nearly 30 schools had to undergo extensive security checks. Earlier in December, more than 40 schools received threatening messages, demanding a ransom of $30,000.

Amid growing concerns, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal addressed the issue in a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, urging swift action to tackle the rising threats and increased drug-related crimes in the city. Kejriwal emphasized the need for central government cooperation as Delhi's law and order fall under its jurisdiction.

Bomb threats in India are a serious offense, with perpetrators facing charges of criminal intimidation and public mischief, and heavy penalties for those caught making such threats. As authorities investigate, Delhi residents remain on edge, hoping for a stronger response to ensure safety in schools and other public spaces.
