Caught in a Controversial Act: Thane Man Booked for Sending Triple Talaq on Notarized Stamp Paper

Navi Mumbai, Airoli: In a shocking incident, a 34-year-old man from Thane, Samir Noor Mohammed Ansari, has been booked under The Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act, 2019 for allegedly giving instant triple talaq to his wife, Shabnam Ansari (28).

Samir reportedly notarized the divorce document on a Rs 100 stamp paper and mailed it to his wife at her parental home in Airoli. The couple had been married in May 2023, but within just one and a half months, Samir left Shabnam citing her medical condition (scoliosis) as the reason. Following their separation, Samir demanded money from Shabnam to take her back, despite knowing her condition before marriage.

After multiple counseling sessions were arranged by the Navi Mumbai Women's Cell, Samir took a drastic step by sending the instant talaq via post. On October 16, Shabnam received the notarized document and promptly filed a complaint at the Rabale MIDC police station, with the assistance of Bharat Aade, the founder-president of Swarajya Hindu Samaj Organization.

A case has been registered, and further investigations are underway to bring the accused to justice.
