Chief Minister Atishi and Ministers Inspect Delhi's Damaged Roads

New Delhi:Chief Minister Atishi, along with ministers from the Delhi government, began an inspection of roads in Delhi on Monday morning. The inspection will last for a week, after which repair work on the roads will commence. The goal is to complete repairs on 1,400 kilometers of roads under the Public Works Department (PWD) by Diwali.

On Monday morning, Chief Minister Atishi inspected the PWD roads in the Okhla industrial area. She mentioned that she and Arvind Kejriwal had inspected Delhi's roads over the past two days and found their condition to be very poor. Arvind Kejriwal has urged all party MLAs and ministers to expedite the process of repairing the roads in Delhi. The Chief Minister has taken on the responsibility for inspecting and repairing roads in South and South-East Delhi.

Regarding the road inspections, Chief Minister Atishi shared a post on X, stating that the entire cabinet of the Delhi government has been on the ground since 6 AM inspecting the PWD roads to make them pothole-free. During the inspection, they evaluated the roads at NSIC Okhla, Modi Mill Flyover, Chirag Delhi, Tughlakabad Extension, Mathura Road, Ashram Chowk, and the underpass. All these roads are in dilapidated condition, with potholes causing traffic issues for residents. During the inspections, officials were instructed to carry out necessary repairs on the roads at a war footing.

In this context, Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj inspected roads in East Delhi, Minister Gopal Rai looked into roads in North-East Delhi, Minister Imran Hussain inspected roads in Central and New Delhi districts, Minister Kailash Gahlot oversaw roads in South-West and Outer Delhi, and Minister Mukesh Ahlawat was responsible for inspecting roads in North-West Delhi. The government aims to have all roads repaired within the next 3-4 months. Minister Atishi claimed that they are striving to provide pothole-free roads to the people of Delhi by Diwali.

Manish Sisodia, MLA from Patparganj and former Deputy Chief Minister, also inspected roads in his assembly area. The Patparganj area falls under East Delhi, which is the responsibility of Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj for road inspections. Both Saurabh Bhardwaj and Manish Sisodia conducted the inspections.

It is noteworthy that Aam Aadmi Party National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal inspected the damaged roads with Chief Minister Atishi, after which he wrote to the Chief Minister demanding urgent repairs. In response, Chief Minister Atishi held a meeting with all ministers and PWD officials at the Delhi Secretariat on Sunday. It was decided that all ministers would inspect the damaged roads in collaboration with local MLAs and PWD officials to determine the causes of the road damage and to initiate prompt repair work.
