Delhi Experiences Coldest December Day in Three Years as Pusa Freezes at 3.2°C

Delhi, India: Delhi shivered on Thursday as Pusa recorded a biting low of 3.2°C, marking the coldest December day in the past three years. Ayangar also reported chilling temperatures of 3.8°C. The city's overall minimum temperature stood at 4.5°C, dipping 0.4°C below normal, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

IMD forecasts predict a sustained cold wave across North India, with Friday’s minimum temperature in Delhi expected to hover around 4°C. Smog and mist are likely in the morning and evening, under mainly clear skies. Northwest winds, with varying speeds of up to 14 km/h, are anticipated through the day.

North India Braces for Extended Cold Wave

The IMD has extended cold wave warnings for states like Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Delhi until December 15. Similarly, Madhya Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, and Jharkhand are expected to face sharp temperature drops until mid-December.

Dense Fog and Frost Expected

Dense fog is forecast for regions like Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Assam, and neighboring northeastern states. Additionally, Uttar Pradesh may witness ground frost conditions over the next two days.
