Delhi Schools Face Bomb Threats for Second Day in a Row

New Delhi: Several schools in Delhi, including Delhi Public School (DPS), RK Puram, and Ryan International School, Vasant Kunj, received bomb threat emails on Saturday, marking the second such incident in as many days. The threats sparked panic as police, bomb detection teams, and fire department officials launched search operations.

Authorities confirmed receiving a call regarding a bomb threat at DPS RK Puram at 6:09 am. So far, no suspicious items have been found, though searches are ongoing. The emails, sent under the name "Barry Allah" from the address childrenofallah@outlook.com, contained ominous messages warning of impending destruction of school buildings.

Saturday’s scare follows similar threats earlier this week. On Friday, about 30 schools in Delhi received hoax bomb threats, while Monday saw threats targeting over 44 institutions. Police stated that while Friday's threats included no ransom demand, Monday’s messages sought $30,000.

Parents are growing increasingly anxious over these repeated incidents, with some expressing frustration over the lack of resolution. "These threats are causing immense mental stress to students and families," said Asha Prabhakar, chairperson of the National Progressive Schools Conference.

Delhi High Court recently directed the state government and police to draft a comprehensive action plan and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to tackle such threats. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also voiced his concerns, emphasizing the disruption such incidents cause to students' psychological and academic well-being.

Authorities continue to investigate the sources of these threats, even as bomb squads work to ensure the safety of schools across the city.
