Driver Flees with ₹25 Lakh from Employer’s Car, Arrested in Thane

Mumbai, India:  The Kherwadi police have arrested a driver who fled with ₹25 lakh in cash from his employer’s car. The accused, Gurudev Subhash Patil (42), was nabbed at Thane railway station, and police recovered ₹23.72 lakh from him.

The incident occurred on February 20 when Naved Mohammad Siddiqui (46), a Bandra-based developer, left Patil in charge of his vehicle while visiting the MHADA office. Upon returning, both the driver and the car were missing. The vehicle was later found abandoned in Kherwadi, but the cash bag was gone.

During the investigation led by ACP Prakash Chougule, police discovered that Patil had a criminal record and was frequently changing locations. Using technical surveillance, they tracked him down in Thane and arrested him. Patil was presented before the Bandra court and remanded to police custody for further investigation.
