Mumbai, India: An 86-year-old woman, identified as Asma Tayyab Bali Antari, lost her life after being run over by a BEST wet-lease bus near Byculla Telephone Exchange on Friday morning. The tragic incident occurred around 7:55 AM, as the bus, operating on Route 134, was heading towards Prabodhankar Thakare Udyan (Sewri) from Backbay Depot.

According to officials, the woman had disembarked from the bus and attempted to cross in front of it when she came into contact with the front left tire, causing her to fall and be run over. She suffered severe head injuries and was rushed to J.J. Hospital, where she was declared dead at 8:45 AM.

The bus involved was identified as number 6331, with driver Dadu Krishna Agiwale (32) and conductor Sumeet Sadashiv Pawar (34) on duty. Authorities have launched an investigation, and the Command & Control Centre (Traffic) is closely monitoring the case.
