Mira-Bhayandar to Get MH-58 Sub-Regional Transport Office as Maharashtra Expands RTO Network

Mumbai, February 28 (PTI) – The Maharashtra government has announced the establishment of a Deputy Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Mira-Bhayandar, located in Thane district, with the vehicle registration code MH-58. This new addition is part of efforts to improve transportation services in the rapidly developing region.
State Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik, representing Thane's Ovala-Majiwada constituency, revealed that the Deputy RTO complex will be set up in Uttan, offering much-needed convenience to the residents of Mira-Bhayandar. This new office will cater to the increasing demand for vehicle registration, licensing, and taxation services in the area, which has been witnessing significant growth.
A government resolution issued on Friday instructed the state transport commissioner to identify suitable land for the new office, allocate an interceptor vehicle, and manage staffing needs for licensing, vehicle registration, and taxation services. With this addition, the total number of transport offices in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) now stands at 11, consisting of six full-fledged RTOs and five deputy RTOs. Across Maharashtra, the total number of Deputy RTOs has increased from 33 to 34, in addition to the 24 main RTOs.
