Fake Currency Racket Busted in Malad; ₹8.5 Lakh in Fake Notes Seized, Two Arrested

Mumbai – The Malvani Police have arrested two individuals in connection with a counterfeit currency racket and seized fake notes worth ₹8.5 lakh along with printing equipment. The accused have been identified as Sampat Anjapalli (46) and Rahimpasha Shaikh (30), both residents of Telangana.
Acting on a tip-off, the police laid a trap in the Marve area of Malad West. Around 9 PM on Thursday, they intercepted a suspicious blue car near Marve beach. Upon searching the vehicle, the police recovered 1,740 fake ₹500 notes and materials used for printing currency.
Investigations are underway to determine the origin of the counterfeit notes and identify the mastermind behind the racket. A case has been registered under Sections 178, 180, 181, 182, 318(1), and 3(5) of the IPC. Police suspect the involvement of an interstate network.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Senior Police Inspector Shailendra Nagarkar, PI Jeevan Bhatukale (Crime), and their investigation team including officers Anil Patil, Jagdish Ghosalkar, Sushant Patil, Sachin Valtakar, Muddasir Desai, Samit Sorte, and Kalidas Khude.
