Guwahati: A wave of shock and fear gripped the Lukhowa Garajan area of Nagaon district, Assam, after four individuals, including three members of the same family, were brutally murdered. The tragic incident occurred on Friday night when unknown assailants attacked the family with sharp weapons, police said on Saturday.

The victims have been identified as retired Jal Jeevan Mission employee Gunadhar Sarkar, his wife Sarojini Sarkar, and their youngest daughter Jayasmita. The fourth victim remains unidentified, and authorities are working to ascertain their identity.

Two other family members, the couple's daughter and son, were away in Nagaon for wedding shopping, as Jayasmita was set to marry on Wednesday.
