Horror in Pathanamthitta: 57 Arrested for Abusing Dalit Girl Over Five Years

Pathanamthitta, Kerala: In a chilling case of sexual abuse and blackmail, Kerala Police have arrested 57 individuals accused of sexually exploiting an 18-year-old Dalit girl over the span of five years in Pathanamthitta district. The victim, who was first abused at the age of 13, accused a total of 62 people, with some of the crimes committed in vehicles, hospitals, and various other locations.
The horrifying abuse was revealed after the victim’s teachers noticed significant behavioral changes and alerted the authorities. After counseling, the girl disclosed the abuse she had endured. As a result, 30 cases have been registered in the Pathanamthitta district across four police stations. The police are still searching for the remaining two accused individuals, who are believed to be abroad. Police confirmed that the abuse included multiple instances of gang-rape, with incidents taking place in cars and at the Pathanamthitta General Hospital.
The investigation has been handled by a special investigation team (SIT), led by woman IPS officer S. Ajitha Beegam. The case has shaken the community, with many demanding swift action to bring justice for the victim.
