India’s U-19 Women’s Team Clinches Historic T20 World Cup Victory in Style!

Kuala Lumpur: India proved their supremacy in women’s youth cricket by clinching a dominant nine-wicket victory over South Africa to win their second successive U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup title. The triumph, achieved with 52 balls to spare, marked India as the first team to win the tournament unbeaten, showcasing their unparalleled talent and depth.
The star of the day was all-rounder Gongadi Trisha, who impressed with both ball and bat. After taking 3/15 with the ball, she anchored India’s chase with an unbeaten 44 from 33 balls, including 8 boundaries. Aayushi Shukla was the standout with the ball, delivering a sensational 4-0-9-2 spell to help bowl South Africa out for just 82.
South Africa, opting to bat first, struggled from the outset. A strong Indian spin attack dismantled their lineup, with early breakthroughs from Parunika (2 wickets) and Shabnam Shakil (1 wicket). Trisha also played a key role, taking 2 wickets and stumping Mieke van Voorst to complete the rout.
India’s chase was led by Trisha’s solid knock, supported by vice-captain Sanika Chalke (26*). The pair ensured India crossed the line comfortably, with Sanika hitting the winning runs in a thrilling finale, sparking wild celebrations.
India’s unbeaten journey through the tournament included group-stage victories over West Indies, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka, followed by impressive wins over Bangladesh and Scotland in the Super Six stage. The team delivered a commanding semi-final win against England to complete a flawless campaign.
