Karnataka Nurse Arrested in Expanding Child Trafficking Network

Matunga, Mumbai: The Matunga Police have arrested Beena Tandel, a 32-year-old nurse from Karnataka, marking the 11th arrest in a widening interstate child trafficking racket. Tandel, active in the racket for over three years, allegedly collaborated with the prime accused, Nadaph, to sell three children in Pune, with one sale conducted independently.
During interrogation, Tandel admitted her involvement in trafficking two of four children identified so far. Further investigations have linked a Karnataka-based doctor to the racket, potentially implicating him in other trafficking activities.
The police believe the network spans Gujarat, Karnataka, and Maharashtra, with numerous children suspected to have been trafficked. Collaborative efforts with Pune Police and child welfare organisations are underway to uncover additional details.
The case unraveled last week after a tip-off about a child being sold in Mumbai, prompting swift action by the Matunga Police. Investigations are ongoing as authorities seek to dismantle the racket and rescue more victims.
