Lost at 4, Searching at 34: Mumbai Man’s 30-Year Quest for Parents

Mumbai, India: Aditya Charegaonkar, who was separated from his family at the age of four in 1994, has launched a determined search to find his parents after three decades. Now 34, he has approached the Mumbai Police and started a social media campaign to trace his roots.
Aditya, who was known as Sunny in childhood, only remembers his grandmother. He was sent to Mankhurd's Children's Aid Society by the police before being moved to the SOS Children's Village in Pune, where he lived until he was 13. His education took him across Maharashtra, eventually leading him to a Master’s in Social Work from Pune University’s Karve Institute of Social Service.
Dedicated to child welfare, Aditya has spent 13 years working in child protection, including a stint with the Gandhi Fellowship in Rajasthan. Now a Grant Manager at the Azim Premji Foundation in Bangalore, he remains committed to reuniting missing children with their families. Recently, he obtained a childhood photograph from an NGO, hoping it will help him reconnect with his family.
