Maha Mumbai Metro Scales New Heights: 305 Daily Services Now Operational on Lines 2A & 7

Mumbai, July 15, 2025: In a significant move to meet the surging demand of urban commuters, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) and its operations arm Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited (MMMOCL) have announced a major enhancement on Metro Lines 2A and 7. Starting today, the total number of daily services has been increased from 284 to 305, following a historic single-day ridership of over 3.01 lakh passengers on July 8.

To support this expansion, three new metro trainsets have been deployed, increasing the fleet from 21 to 24 rakes. Peak-hour frequency has been improved with headway reduced to 5 minutes 50 seconds (from the earlier 6 minutes 35 seconds), helping reduce wait times and platform congestion. Off-peak intervals will remain at 9 minutes 30 seconds.

This improvement comes after a successful pilot run and highlights the government’s vision of making Mumbai a fast-moving and connected metropolis.
