Maharashtra Government Reshuffles Bureaucracy: New Leadership for BEST and More

Maharashtra: In a significant bureaucratic shake-up under the BJP-led government in Maharashtra, 12 IAS officers have been reassigned. Among the notable changes, Dr. Harshdeep Kamble, a 1997-batch IAS officer, has been appointed as the new General Manager of the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST). Dr. Kamble was previously serving as Principal Secretary (Industries) in the Industries, Energy, and Labour Department.
He replaces Anil Diggikar, a 1990-batch IAS officer, who took over the BEST GM position in March this year but has now been moved to the Divyang Kalyan Department as Additional Chief Secretary. This transfer comes just weeks after the tragic Kurla BEST bus accident on December 9 that claimed nine lives and injured 40 people.
Other major reshuffles include Dr. Anbalagan P, previously Chairman and Managing Director of MAHAGENCO, who is now Secretary (Industries). He will be replaced by Dr. Radhakrishnan B, former Joint Secretary to the Chief Minister. Additionally, Sanjay Daine, Collector of Gadchiroli district, has been assigned as Commissioner, Textile, Nagpur, while Wardha Collector Rahul Kardile has been appointed Nashik Municipal Commissioner.
This reshuffle highlights the state’s efforts to align key bureaucratic positions with governance priorities.
