Mandya, Karnataka: An eight-year-old girl has alleged that she was harassed by two boys inside the washroom of her government school in Mandya district.
The incident reportedly took place on January 31 but came to light on Sunday when the girl's mother approached the police. According to the police, the Class 2 student claimed that her classmate and an older boy forced her into the washroom and coerced her into an uncomfortable situation.
She also mentioned that they intimidated her into staying silent. However, she later confided in her mother, leading to a case being registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Mandya Superintendent of Police Mallikarjun Baladandi confirmed that an investigation is underway, including reviewing CCTV footage from the school.
However, a medical examination did not reveal any physical injuries, and police are verifying inconsistencies in the statement. Meanwhile, BJP State President B Y Vijayendra condemned the incident, expressing concerns over the law and order situation in Karnataka.
He urged authorities to take strict action and ensure justice.
