NASA Researcher Gets Blunt Rejection Email—Job Seekers Are Furious!

United States: A former NASA researcher recently faced an unexpectedly harsh rejection from a recruiter, sparking widespread debate online. The woman, who holds a master’s degree in particle physics and has experience in IT, data analysis, manufacturing, and even NASA, shared the recruiter’s response, calling it "rude and cruel."

She had applied for a business development role, despite noticing that the qualifications section in the job listing was incomplete. The position required experience in manufacturing and blueprint reading, but due to the tough job market, she decided to take a chance.

However, the recruiter’s email shocked her. Instead of a standard rejection, they bluntly questioned if she had even read the job description. “Only apply to positions that match your background. To do otherwise is an extreme waste of time,” the recruiter wrote.

Dismayed, she replied with a screenshot showing the incomplete qualifications section but later admitted, “I’m not sure I should have done that, but I was completely shocked.”

Her post quickly went viral, with users slamming the recruiter’s unprofessionalism. Many pointed out the double standards in hiring, where companies demand excessive experience for entry-level jobs yet criticize candidates for applying beyond their exact expertise.

One recruiter even jokingly suggested turning the tables, offering to spam the hiring manager with mismatched resumes. Another user quipped, “But when companies want a junior position to have 12+ years of experience, that’s not wasting anyone’s time?”

The incident has reignited discussions on hiring etiquette, professionalism, and the growing struggles of job seekers in today’s competitive market.
