MSRTC's New Year's Gift: 1,300 Buses to Enhance Maharashtra's Transport

Maharashtra, India: In a major move to modernize Maharashtra's public transport, the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) is set to induct 1,300 new buses into its fleet, starting January 1, 2025. MSRTC Chairman Bharat Gogawale called it a 'New Year's gift' to the people.
About 450 buses will be deployed in areas like Nashik-Sambhaji Nagar, Nagpur-Amravati, and the Mumbai-Pune corridor, boosting connectivity and service quality in these crucial routes.
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, MSRTC's fleet consisted of 18,500 buses, serving 65 lakh passengers daily. However, the pandemic reduced the fleet to 14,500 buses, resulting in a drop to 54 lakh passengers daily. The new buses will help recover lost capacity and enhance overall service.
Chairman Gogawale emphasized that this initiative is part of MSRTC's ongoing modernization efforts to ensure safer and more comfortable travel for passengers. The expansion is expected to continue over the coming years.
The new buses are in line with the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, which supports the growth and operation of state transport services.
MSRTC's induction of 1,300 buses signals a significant step in revitalizing Maharashtra's transport system, aiming for safer, more efficient, and comfortable travel for the public.
