22 Passengers Escape Fire on Navi Mumbai Bus

Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra:  A dramatic scene unfolded on Thursday morning in Navi Mumbai when a civic transport service bus caught fire with 22 passengers on board, narrowly avoiding a tragedy. The incident occurred at Runwal Chowk, Manpada, on the Kalyan-Shilphata Road around 10:30 am. Thankfully, all passengers were evacuated safely, and no injuries were reported.

The bus, operated by Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport (NMMT), erupted in flames after the driver quickly stopped and instructed passengers to exit the vehicle. He also managed to jump to safety. Police swiftly intervened, halting traffic on both sides of the road to prevent further hazards.

A water tanker from the police department was deployed, and within 30 minutes, the fire was completely extinguished. Once the blaze was under control, a crane was used to clear the charred bus, allowing traffic to resume. The bus passengers continued their journey in private vehicles and auto-rickshaws.

This timely response ensured that the morning’s scare did not result in any casualties, although the fire did cause a temporary traffic jam.
