Shivaji Maharaj statue collapse case: Structural consultant Chetan Patil arrested from Kolhapur

Mumbai :The collapse of the full-length statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Rajkot fort In Malvan has spread a wave of outrage across Maharashtra. While the Mahayuti government is being criticized in this matter, now the Kolhapur police have arrested Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's statue structural consultant Chetan Patil. Sindhudurg police named Chetan Patil, and a team from the Kolhapur Crime Branch arrested him.
Chetan Patil was arrested around 12.30 pm last night and was later handed over to the Sindhudurg police, a senior police officer said. This is the first arrest in the statue collapse case. The police said that the investigation is on. Based on the interrogation and investigation of Patil, other accused will be arrested in this case.
Notably, a full-length statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was installed at Rajkot Fort in Malvan in Sindhudurg district as a permanent memorial to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The statue was unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 4 December 2023. The statue was 43 feet tall. It had a structure 15 feet from the ground and a statue 28 feet high stood on it. This magnificent statue suddenly collapsed on the afternoon of August 26. What was the reason behind the fall of this statue? It is not clear yet. But this has rekindled the wave of anger among the people. The opposition has severely criticized the government in this matter.
