Mumbai Tiffin Service Worker Held for Harassing College Student with Pornographic Videos

Mumbai: A tiffin box supplier was arrested for sexual harassment on Saturday, March 22, after allegedly sending pornographic images and videos to a 20-year-old college student. The victim, who studies at a college in Churchgate, lives as a paying guest with two other students in South Mumbai's Chira Bazaar.

The students had been using a tiffin service, where a delivery person dropped off their meals at 12:30 pm and 8:30 pm daily. According to the victim’s statement, she rarely interacted with the delivery person, as she was typically at college or out of the house during the delivery times. However, when the regular delivery person went on leave, a new delivery man took over the service.

On March 19, at around 11 pm, the victim received obscene photos and videos from the new delivery person’s WhatsApp number. Disturbed and shocked by the unsolicited content, she immediately informed her roommates and friends. The following day, the victim approached the LT Marg Police Station and filed a complaint against the accused.

An FIR was registered under Section 75 (1) (iii) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, which pertains to showing pornography against a woman's will, and Section 67 of the Information Technology Act, 2000, which deals with the publication or transmission of obscene material in electronic form.

The accused, a married man whose family resides in Rajasthan, was arrested by the police. He was produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.
