Mumbai Traffic Police Seizes 672 E-Bikes for Violations in Special Drive

Mumbai: In a significant crackdown on traffic rule violations, the Mumbai Traffic Police have seized 672 electric two-wheelers from across the city during a special drive conducted between December 18 and December 29.
According to an official statement on Monday, the action was prompted by multiple complaints regarding reckless behavior by e-bike riders, which posed a serious threat to the safety of other road users.
The special drive aimed to address increasing concerns over traffic violations involving e-bikes, including riding on pedestrian pathways, signal jumping, and other offenses. "The vehicles were seized after they were found violating traffic norms, endangering the lives of motorists and pedestrians alike," the official stated.
The police emphasized that strict enforcement of traffic rules is critical to ensuring road safety, especially as the use of electric two-wheelers becomes more prevalent in the city. This initiative is part of the broader efforts by the Mumbai Traffic Police to curb unruly behavior on city roads and promote responsible use of electric vehicles.
