Mumbai : Mumbai's weather on Wednesday, January 8, is expected to feature clear skies with moderate air quality, according to updates from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). The temperature will range from a cool 17°C in the morning to a warm 32°C during the day, with a relative humidity of 47%. The sun will rise at 07:14 AM and set at 06:16 PM.

At the Santacruz observatory in suburban Mumbai, the maximum temperature recorded is 33.3°C, while the minimum temperature is 19°C. Meanwhile, the Colaba observatory saw a maximum temperature of 30.2°C, and a minimum of 21.6°C.

Regarding air quality, Mumbai's AQI currently stands in the 'moderate' category, with an index reading of 134 at 10:05 AM. Areas like Bandra Kurla Complex (AQI 144) and Colaba, Ghatkopar, and Kurla (ranging between 110 and 117) also show 'moderate' air quality. However, Borivali East enjoys 'good' air quality with an AQI of 87, while Shivaji Nagar faces 'poor' air quality, marked by an AQI of 274.

The city's increasing air pollution has prompted the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to implement stricter construction guidelines, including sensor-based pollution monitoring systems at all active construction sites. The BMC will also create ward-level squads to ensure compliance and take action when pollution levels exceed safe limits.
