No FASTag? Prepare to Pay Double Tolls in Maharashtra Starting April 1!

Maharashtra, India: Starting April 1, a new rule will make FASTag mandatory for all four-wheelers liable to pay toll tax in Maharashtra. Vehicles without a FASTag will be charged double the prescribed toll rate, a move aimed at reducing traffic congestion at toll plazas and increasing transparency in toll collection.

Under the new system, vehicles that attempt to pay tolls without using a FASTag, or enter FASTag lanes without one, will be fined. For instance, a toll fee of Rs 50 will cost vehicles without a functional FASTag Rs 100.

The Chief Minister’s Office has stated that this measure will save fuel, reduce time spent at toll booths, and streamline toll collection across the 22 existing toll plazas in Maharashtra, as well as future ones.

With the implementation of this rule, commuters are advised to ensure that their vehicles are equipped with functional FASTags to avoid additional charges and contribute to smoother travel on the state’s highways.
