Murder Convict on the Run for 3 Years Arrested in Mumbai; Police Crackdown on Dangerous Criminal Duo in Delhi

Mumbai, Delhi: In a major breakthrough, a 46-year-old murder convict, Ajay Kumar Tripathi, was arrested by Delhi Police in Mumbai three years after he jumped parole during the Covid-19 pandemic. Tripathi, who had been serving a life sentence for the kidnapping and murder of a child in 2000 in Delhi, had been granted parole in July 2021. However, after the parole ended in September 2021, Tripathi failed to return and went into hiding under the alias Akshay Kumar. He was found working as a delivery executive in Ghatkopar, Mumbai. Police, following a thorough investigation, tracked him to the Chembur area, where he was apprehended on December 28, 2024.

In a separate incident, Delhi Police arrested two dangerous criminals in a shootout in West Delhi. The duo, Rohit Kapoor and Rinku, who are linked to over 80 criminal cases, including armed robbery and murder, were caught after a dramatic exchange of gunfire. The shootout, which occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning, resulted in the criminals sustaining gunshot wounds to their legs. Authorities had been trailing them for some time after several robberies were reported in the region. Rinku and Kapoor’s crime spree extended across Delhi and Madhya Pradesh.

Both incidents highlight the ongoing efforts of Delhi Police to tackle crime in the city and beyond, ensuring that even long-evading criminals are brought to justice.
