New Year Gift for Navi Mumbaikars! New Local Trains to Run

A significant update has emerged for the commuters of Navi Mumbai. In the coming New Year, two new non-AC local trains will begin operations. This will make commuting smoother and more comfortable for passengers. The old retrofit locals running on the Nerul-Belapur to Uran route will be phased out, and in their place, two new local trains will be introduced.
Local trains are considered the lifeline of Mumbai, but over the years, the increasing number of passengers has led to overcrowding, causing discomfort for commuters. As the population of Navi Mumbai also grows, and with the rapid development of the region, the demand for more trains has been rising. The demand for additional local trains on the Harbour line has been gaining momentum.
Recently, two new AC local trains were introduced in the Central Railway fleet, and trials are being conducted. Now, with the new year, two non-AC local trains will be introduced on the Nerul-Belapur to Uran route. Currently, there are four local trains running on this route, including three retrofit locals and one Siemens local. Some of these retrofit locals are nearing the end of their service life, which is why they will be replaced with new, fresh, non-AC locals.
The old retrofit locals, modified between 2011 and 2016, are slower and have less capacity. The new locals have been manufactured at the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai, with trials for one of them already underway, while the second train will begin trials soon.
These new locals will offer more space, better ventilation, and enhanced comfort for passengers. They will be equipped with LED lights, stainless steel seats, larger fans with stainless steel mesh, and more spacious interiors. This means higher passenger capacity and a more pleasant journey.
With the introduction of these new trains, the travel experience for Navi Mumbai commuters is expected to be much more comfortable and efficient.
