No tree will be cut for construction of flyover: Assam CM

Guwahati : Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has clarified that no tree will be cut in connection with the flyover under construction from Noonmati to Dighalipukhuri in Guwahati.
Talking to the media on Tuesday night, the Chief Minister, who arrived to inspect the construction work of the flyover, said that he had initially ordered the Public Works Department not to cut any tree in connection with the construction of the flyover.
However, the Chief Minister also said that it is the rule of the Government of India that in place of cutting one tree, 10 new trees will have to be planted. But, no tree will be cut in the construction of this overbridge.
The Chief Minister said that some changes have been made in this flyover project. The flyover coming from Noonmati will end in front of Ravindra Bhawan / District Library in Dighalipukhuri. Both its arms will be small and big.
It is noteworthy that many people are protesting against the possibility of cutting trees in the Ujan Bazar area in connection with the construction of this flyover. Famous singer Zubin Garg also sat on a dharna on Monday regarding this.
The Guwahati High Court has also sought a reply from the government in this matter. The Chief Minister said that no matter how many obstacles arise in its construction work, its construction work will be completed by 2026.
