Palghar Social Worker Allegedly Kidnapped; Family Suspects Liquor Mafia Involvement

Palghar, January 28: A 54-year-old social worker, Ashok Dhodi, has been missing since January 20, with his family alleging that his abduction is linked to a notorious liquor mafia operating in the region. Dhodi, who had been vocal against the illegal activities of the liquor syndicate in Palghar district, was reportedly kidnapped from his residence in Gholwad.

The family claims that despite providing strong evidence to the Gholwad police, no substantial progress has been made in the investigation. Dhodi's son, Akash, expressed frustration, stating that the police have only registered a missing person’s complaint and have not taken further action to address the suspected involvement of the liquor mafia.

“My father has been raising his voice against the illegal liquor business in Palghar for years. I firmly believe the mafia is behind his kidnapping. I have shared all the evidence with the police, but they have not made any significant efforts to investigate the matter,” said Akash Dhodi.

According to his wife, Lata Dhodi, Ashok last contacted her on the evening of January 20, instructing her to prepare dinner. Shortly after, his phone was switched off, and he never returned home. The family is growing increasingly concerned for his safety.

Despite the gravity of the situation, senior officials in the Palghar police department have remained silent on the issue, further intensifying concerns over the lack of progress in the case.

The family is demanding swift action from the authorities and has called for justice for the missing social worker.
