Railway Disruption in Palghar: Crack on Track Halts Services, Repair Work Underway

Palghar, Mumbai: Train services on the Western Railway (WR) line were disrupted early Tuesday morning after a crack was discovered on the up-line railway track near Vaitarna station in Palghar district. The issue, identified around 8 am, caused delays for long-distance trains heading toward Mumbai as well as minor disruptions to local services.
Railway authorities acted swiftly to avert a major accident, deploying teams to repair the damaged track on a war footing. While the repair work is ongoing, long-distance trains from Gujarat and other regions have been halted at Vaitarna and nearby stations. Local trains on the up-line are operating at reduced speeds, leading to delays of 15-20 minutes, according to an official update from Western Railway.
Repair Efforts and Commuter Advisory
Passengers, including office-goers and students, have been advised to prepare for delays and consider alternative travel plans. Authorities assure that normal operations will resume soon as the damaged section of the track is being replaced.
Upcoming Night Block on Western Railway
Adding to the inconvenience, Western Railway has announced a major night block on January 24th/25th and 25th/26th to reconstruct a bridge between Mahim and Bandra stations. The block will result in the cancellation of 127 suburban services on Friday night and 150 on Saturday night, with an additional 60 services partially canceled.
