Reliance Chief Mukesh Ambani Meets US President Donald Trump in Doha Amid Growing Global Business Ties

Doha, 15 May 2025 : In a significant development reflecting the growing global footprint of Indian business leaders, Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries, met with former US President Donald Trump at the Lusail Palace in Doha, Qatar. The high-profile interaction took place during a state dinner hosted by Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, in President Trump’s honour.

While the specific details of the meeting remain undisclosed, the encounter highlights the increasing convergence of global political and business interests, with India’s corporate leaders playing a more visible role on the world stage. This is the second meeting between Ambani and Trump since Trump’s presidential inauguration in January.

The meeting also underscores the deepening trilateral ties between India, the US, and Qatar, particularly in the realms of trade, investment, and strategic collaboration. Qatar’s sovereign wealth fund, the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), has already invested in several ventures of Reliance Industries, marking a continuing partnership between the Gulf nation and one of India’s largest conglomerates.

Earlier this year, in February, the Emir of Qatar visited India, announcing a substantial commitment of USD 10 billion in investments across infrastructure, energy, and other key sectors. This strategic economic cooperation is expected to further boost ties between Indian enterprises and Qatar’s expanding investment portfolio.

The presence of global leaders such as Trump at a forum involving Indian business magnates signals India’s growing relevance in international economic diplomacy. Reliance Industries, with its expansive interests in energy, telecommunications, retail, and technology, continues to be a key player in this evolving global narrative.

This meeting not only reflects the influence of Indian businesses in international affairs but also suggests potential future collaborations across industries such as energy, technology, and infrastructure. With Ambani at the helm, Reliance’s international outreach continues to strengthen India’s position in global commerce and diplomacy.
