Shah Rukh Khan to Live in Rented Flat in Bandra for ₹24 Lakh per Month as He Leaves Mannat for Renovation

Mumbai : Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and his family are set to move out of their iconic Mumbai bungalow, Mannat, later this year for a major renovation that will keep them away for at least two years. The actor, along with wife Gauri and children Aryan, Suhana, and AbRam, will temporarily relocate to a luxury apartment in the Bandra locality, which is also home to the famous Bandra Bandstand.
Mannat, which has been the Khan family’s residence for over 25 years, is a landmark in Mumbai and a popular tourist attraction. The bungalow, situated opposite the Bandstand, draws hundreds of fans daily who gather to catch a glimpse of the actor. However, after years of planning, Shah Rukh Khan is now embarking on an extensive renovation project for the heritage bungalow, which has been designated a Grade III heritage structure. This means that any structural changes to the property require legal permissions, which Shah Rukh has successfully secured.
The New Temporary Abode
Shah Rukh Khan has signed a lease for four floors in a luxury apartment building in the nearby Pali Hill area of Bandra. These floors have been leased from film producer Vashu Bhagnani, with whom Shah Rukh's production house, Red Chillies Entertainment, entered into a leave-and-license agreement. The apartment, Puja Casa, is co-owned by Bhagnani’s children, Jackky Bhagnani and Deepshika Deshmukh.
The four floors, which will serve as both a residence and office space, will accommodate the Khan family, their security personnel, and staff. Sources revealed that although the new space is not as expansive as Mannat, it is designed to provide enough room for their security and staff. Shah Rukh is reportedly paying a monthly rent of ₹24 lakh for this temporary arrangement.
Safety and Privacy Concerns
Ensuring the safety and privacy of the family is a top priority for Shah Rukh Khan. Reports suggest that the actor and his team are working closely with the apartment management to create secure living conditions. The family has leased two duplex apartments located on the first, second, seventh, and eighth floors of the building for a period of three years.
Although the Khan family’s stay in the luxury apartment is confirmed for at least the next three years, sources indicate that the renovation of Mannat might take up to two years. This means the Khan family could return to their iconic home once the renovations are completed, depending on the progress of the work.
Shah Rukh Khan's decision to temporarily move out of Mannat is part of his plans to revamp his beloved home and modernize it while preserving its heritage charm. The renovation project is expected to add significant space and new amenities to the family’s iconic abode.
